The Hedgehog

The hedgehog has great historical significance at Homme House. It was part of the Kyrle family coat of arms and has been associated with the house since the mid-1500s when Thomas Kyrle purchased the house from the Crown. It sits atop the family coat of arms above the magnificent fireplace in the main Dining Room and you might be able to spot other examples in both the Hall and the Library.

 

The House

Homme House became the home of Thomas Kyrle in the 16th century and, after a major fire, was rebuilt in 1623. Ownership is traceable through the same family links to the present occupants.

The mulberry tree in the Walled Garden is known to have been planted before 1608.

The Grade 1 listed Summerhouse stands at the top of the one and a half acre Walled Garden which is now a wildflower meadow.

The park is said to have been designed by Capability Brown and the house, renovated in 2001 by the present owners, occupies a position offering breathtaking views of the Malvern Hills and Cotswolds beyond
